Medicare Advantage Plans

Once you have Original Medicare Parts A & B in place, one of the options to help reduce costs is Medicare Advantage Plans.  These plans are run by private insurance companies in conjunction with Medicare. These plans must offer everything Original Medicare Covers. The insurance company will design plans approved by Original Medicare that hopefully attract you to their product.  These are the four types of plans that Medicare plans offer.

  • Medicare Advantage
  • Medicare Advantage with Prescription Drug
  • Private Fee for Service
  • Medical Savings Account Plans

One of the main attractions to Medicare Advantage plans is many have a $0 Premium plan available.  In addition, value added  benefits that vary by insurance companies, along with zip code & county called a service area.

  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Over The Counter
  • Transportation
  • Meals
  • Gym Membership

Annual Election Period: Every 10/15 - 12/7 you may shop for a new Medicare Advantage Plan without any health questions or preexisting conditions.  If you're happy with the plan you have, stay put.  However, if a doctor left the network, you noticed increased medication costs or you're simply not happy with the plan, this is the time to find a new plan or drop the coverage for a Medicare Supplement. Do not cancel your current plan until a new one is confirmed and in place. Other election periods exist, but this one is the most important after your initial election period.  If you have a unique situation, please reach out.
