Short-term health insurance plans are private individual plans designed to fill a gap in your insurance needs, lasting from 1 month up to 3 years depending on your state of residence. They are individual health plans you can get anytime, but you must answer qualifying health questions. They provide a PPO option that is not Affordable Care Act compliant, so be cognisant of the timing when a plan ends. This could leave you uninsurable temporarily.
