Affordable Care Act

Since the introduction of the Affordable Care Act often known as Obamacare there has been a lot of confusion. I can help you siphon through the confusion. Without a special election period that is triggered by a specific event, you must get or renew your plan during the annual open enrollment that runs 11/1-12/15 annually. Plans run on a calendar year from 1/1-12/31.  Plans are guaranteed issue and no preexisting limitations apply.

The plan premiums are priced by income, number of participants, carrier and where you live. You may qualify for a subsidy based off your income. A subsidy can help with your premium, cost sharing (Silver Plans) or both. The amount of insurance carriers will vary by County & State.

The "Get A Quote" link below will save you significant time over visiting  You can see all the available carriers in your state and the premium you are likely to pay based off your income, in under a minute. One last common misconception, you can't get an ACA plan if you make too much money. This is absolutely not true, you simply will not get a premium tax subsidy.  Again, you need to get a plan during the Open Enrollment or you need a Special Election period and have creditable coverage elsewhere.

Short Term Health

Short term health insurance is a great option for people in very good health. Below is a sample of who it may help:

  1. You missed the Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment.
  2. Waiting for benefits to start at a new employer.
  3. Between jobs and need temporary coverage.
  4. Age 64 and you pay a lot of money for your insurance.
  5. On COBRA looking for a lower cost insurance option.
  6. You simply refuse to purchase an expensive Obamacare plan.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans still make for the best option. However, if you simply refuse to purchase an ACA plan, this is absolutely better than nothing. If you would like a short term health quote, please use the "Get a Quote" button.

In addition to National General link below, I do offer another well known carrier  You can use this link to see their rates.

Short term health plans DO NOT cover preexisting conditions, prescription medications or the essential health benefits of Obamacare (mostly preventive benefits and maternity).

Dental Insurance & Discount Plans

Dental Insurance

Dental insurance plans for individuals and families play an important role in your overall health. Annual cleanings, x-rays and exams help eliminate other health related problems associated with poor oral hygiene. Individual and family plans are great for self employed or individuals not getting coverage through their employer.

When considering a dental insurance plan, the following scenarios could apply. The plan could be a HMO, PPO or a Fee Schedule (discount plan). You may click on any of the links below to get a no obligation quote.

  • Ameritas:  They offer both in & out of network options. Your best savings will come from utilizing in-network providers.  Available in most of the 15 states I am licensed. They provide 2 simple plans with a $1000 or $2000 annual benefit. In addition, they provide coverage day 1 for all coverage levels (they may be at a reduced amount for 6-12 months).
  • Spirit Dental: Spirit Dental utilizes Ameritas vast network and provides a variety of different plans with benefits starting day 1, up to $5000 in annual benefits. Again, they have a Network option and Choice Option, that allows coverage at any dentist. Spirit Dental offers a few different choices not provided by Ameritas above, but same network of over 471,000 dentists.
  • Spirit Vision: Need a stand alone vision plan, Spirit has a plan for you. Or you can add it on to your dental plan.
  • Bright Idea Dental: Bright Idea offers a plan with a $3000 & $5000 annual benefit options. No waiting periods if proof of prior insurance provided. Compare the rates with Spirit Dental and check to see if your dentist is in network. If a larger annual benefit is what you're after, this is the plan may be the best option for you.
  • Delta Dental AZ:  (AZ Only) Great network in Arizona Simple to choose plans and solid benefits.
  • Dental Care Plus Group:  (IN, KY & OH) Dentist owned, you will likely find the best network in the areas they provide plans.
  • Humana:  Offers 4 plans in most areas I am licensed. 3 of the 4 plans have no waiting periods. In addition, they have a vision plan.

See a plan, lets discuss before applying to make sure you understand the benefits & network.  In addition, we provide vision insurance options.  Own a business? Group plans are available.

Dental Discount Plans

Discount plans are available in all 50 states for individuals, families and groups. Discount plans are not insurance, but give you access to the network discounts from 10%-60%.  Remember, you must use in-network providers. One of the best features, no waiting periods or annual maximums.

I consider discount plans to be the “Sam’s Club” or “Costco” of dental savings.  If you’re not in a hurry to get a plan, many great sales are offered throughout the year that I can inform you about.  If you need assistance with plan selection, a group plan, finding a dentist or when the next great sale happens, please give me a call.

You can see pricing for individual and family plans by clicking on "Get a Quote".  Many plans offer additional discounts on telemedicine, vision, prescription and chiropractic services. If you call Dental Plans and choose a plan, make sure you provide my Broker Code: 44699.
